We
have a full-schedule of manufactured housing educational
seminars for 2009. Courses scheduled include:
Business, Legal and Ethical Considerations for Installers
(Mandatory for all MH license renewals)
Mr. Carl Becker who is a partner in Newton, Becker, Bouwkamp,
Pendoski, PC, the attorneys on retainer with IMHA for over
fifteen years teaches this seminar. The Indiana MH Installer
Licensing Board approved this course for two hours of credit.
This course is the only ethics seminar
approved by the Board at this time. The Licensing rules
make it mandatory that each Installer to include an approved
ethics training seminar within their twelve hours of continuing
education necessary to renew their licenses. Attendance
at this seminar will satisfy the ethics-training requirement
and make license renewal possible.
Accessory Structures for Manufactured Homes
This seminar is taught by Association MH and Governmental
Relations Director, Jim Keller. Jim is a former state building
inspector, plans examiner and codes instructor. He began
his carrier in factory built housing as the Plant Engineer
at Sullivan Homes and then as a Production Designer at All
American Homes. Jim also wrote and co-teaches the IMHA Basic
MH Installer Licensing seminar. The Accessory Structures
seminar has been approved for three hours of continuing
education credit toward the Indiana MH Installer License
renewal. It is based upon the Indiana Residential Code for
permanently installed manufactured homes. The attachment
of garages and carports as well as other requirements will
be discussed.
Foundations for Manufactured Homes
This seminar is taught by Lynn Madden. Ms. Madden is the
Quality Control and Code Compliance Manager for Hallmark
Homes of Anderson, Indiana. She is responsible for the training
of the Hallmark Homes construction managers and the resolution
of inspection write-ups from local building inspectors as
well as consumer relations in the multiple states in which
Hallmark builds homes. She is the current co-chairman of
the Indiana Residential Code Committee and the Chairperson
of the Indiana Builders Association Codes Committee. She
is a past local building official and holds national certifications
in thirteen inspection categories. This seminar will cover
the code compliant design and construction of a permanent
foundation for a manufactured home. In the history of the
manufactured housing industry in Indiana, this is the first
such seminar ever presented. This seminar is approved by
the Indiana MH Installer Licensing Board for six hours of
continuing education credit.
Statute Update Seminar - June
1, 2009
This
seminar is taught by Jim Keller, Manufactured Housing and
Governmental Relations Director for IMHA. The focus of this
seminar is upon the changes to rules and statutes that apply
to the installation of manufactured homes within land lease
communities. It will also cover the Weather Radio requirements
enacted by the Indiana General Assembly. The Indiana MH
Installer Licensing Board has approved this seminar for
four hours of continuing education credit.
