Basic Installer Seminar (February 24 & 25, 2010)

We have a full selection of manufactured housing educational seminars available in 2010, including:

• Business, Legal and Ethical Considerations for Installers
(Mandatory for all MH license renewals)
Mr. Carl Becker who is a partner in Newton, Becker, Bouwkamp, Pendoski, PC, the attorneys on retainer with IMHA for over fifteen years teaches this seminar. The Indiana MH Installer Licensing Board approved this course for two hours of credit. This course is the only ethics seminar
approved by the Board at this time. The Licensing rules make it mandatory that each Installer to include an approved ethics training seminar within their twelve hours of continuing education necessary to renew their licenses. Attendance at this seminar will satisfy the ethics-training requirement and make license renewal possible.

• Accessory Structures for Manufactured Homes
This seminar is taught by Association MH and Governmental Relations Director, Jim Keller. Jim is a former state building inspector, plans examiner and codes instructor. He began his carrier in factory built housing as the Plant Engineer at Sullivan Homes and then as a Production Designer at All American Homes. Jim also wrote and co-teaches the IMHA Basic MH Installer Licensing seminar. The Accessory Structures seminar has been approved for three hours of continuing education credit toward the Indiana MH Installer License renewal. It is based upon the Indiana Residential Code for permanently installed manufactured homes. The attachment of garages and carports as well as other requirements will be discussed.

• Foundations for Manufactured Homes
This seminar is taught by Lynn Madden. Ms. Madden is the Quality Control and Code Compliance Manager for Hallmark Homes of Anderson, Indiana. She is responsible for the training of the Hallmark Homes construction managers and the resolution of inspection write-ups from local building inspectors as well as consumer relations in the multiple states in which Hallmark builds homes. She is the current co-chairman of the Indiana Residential Code Committee and the Chairperson of the Indiana Builders Association Codes Committee. She is a past local building official and holds national certifications in thirteen inspection categories. This seminar will cover the code compliant design and construction of a permanent foundation for a manufactured home. In the history of the manufactured housing industry in Indiana, this is the first such seminar ever presented. This seminar is approved by the Indiana MH Installer Licensing Board for six hours of continuing education credit.

• Statute Update Seminar
This seminar is taught by Jim Keller, Manufactured Housing and Governmental Relations Director for IMHA. The focus of this seminar is upon the changes to rules and statutes that apply to the installation of manufactured homes within land lease communities. It will also cover the Weather Radio requirements enacted by the Indiana General Assembly. The Indiana MH Installer Licensing Board has approved this seminar for four hours of continuing education credit.
